Body repair page #3 |
The front left frame rail was removed first from the car. It was taken ou in 4 pieces
with the toughest 2 being attached to the the shock tower. (I found were the best welder was working the night our car was built.) After the rail was removed we patched the lower part of the shock tower near the frame. Dirt and salt had taken there toll as the drain hole in the shock tower was filled with body sealer from the factory. The new rail was welded in place as close to the factory measurement that we could attain. There were errors carried forward from the factory (The shock tower and aprons are still affixed). The new frame was not exactly a perfect replacement and this welder added his own errors. We were off by about a 1/4" at worse in the location of the bumper mounts. |
