This is looking at the passenger side Quarter window area. The top piece of metal loops around the car and holds the convertible top. The middle piece is where the mechanism mounts (note the drill holes in the lower left that the wheel house welds to). The lower piece welds behind the seat (and to the wheel house) This picture is after media blasting and before acid etching and painting (It was solid rust from never being painted. Another view of the same area. This is an area that we lost a little sleep over. This is the cross over piece between the rear framerails thats welded to the floor over the rear end. It's also the piece the shocks mount to. It was constructed of sandwich sheetmetal and was never painted. After much deliberation we left it as is and generously coated the inside with grease Another shot of the piece. What is left of the old rear wheelhouse Here is fabrication of a convertible wheel house. I cut the flat out of the old wheelhouse as a template and layed it on the inside (wheel side) of the wheelhouse. I then scribed the outline and cut it out slightly undersize. I then flattened it out and refitted and welded it back in |
